NEIL MELANSON
DOMP, D.Sc.O, RMT
Osteopathic Manual Practitioner
Somatic Experiencing Practitioner
Neil Melanson is a graduate of the Colleges d’Etudes Osteopathy, a seven-year program widely considered the most rigorous and comprehensive school for Osteopathy in Canada. He is also a graduate of the Somatic Experiencing Practitioner program, a 3-year immersive course, considered the “gold standard” for trauma informed care. He was a faculty member at Northumberland College, teaching anatomy, physiology and clinical skills for more than a decade, and has taught Myofascial Release courses internationally. He continues to refine and expand his skillset in manual osteopathic skills with both structural and functional approaches. Neil has invested more than two decades studying various paths towards health and healing. He uses a whole-person model in treatment to positively affect the body, spirit and mind. This includes the refined structure-functional techniques of traditional osteopathy, modernized polyvagal approaches to complete stress responses through Somatic Experiencing, and through traditional practices of mindfulness, meditation and perceptual studies. The effect of healing is not only contained in the body, but of all the space which reverberates from that change.
The best we can do as therapists, is to be present with our patients, and help support the path to harmonize their body, mind and spirit. We are complex animals, and it is important to attend to our entire life experience, as opposed to just chasing symptoms. Neil continues to study the latest scientific literature for best treatment practices, and continues to invest in learning from the intelligence of the natural world. Healing is a path, and not a destination, and Neil offers the knowledge and skill to help you uncover your own unique path to healing. He fully believes in the capacity for each person to be their own best “inner physician”, yet also embraces other models of care, which can support, strengthen, and stabilize patients symptoms, whenever that seems appropriate.
Neil works with a local, regional and national patient population, both in-person an through virtual visits. He works with professionals, national athletes, stay-at-home parents, retirees and youth populations.

The Ontario Association of Osteopathic Manual Practitioners requires the highest standard of education and professional training in Ontario, which is 4200 Hrs of supervised clinical practice. www.osteopathyontario.org
