WHAT IS OSTEOPATHY?
Osteopathy is a client-centred discipline that is based on understanding the relationship between structure and function in order to enhance the body’s inherent ability to heal. It relies on skilled manual therapeutic techniques to assess and treat the client, assisting the natural self-healing properties of the human body.
Osteopathic Manual Practitioners recognize a person as an integrated whole. When all of the body’s components are in balance, a person is complete and in total health. Osteopathic Manual Practitioners work to maintain, improve and restore the normal physiological function of interrelated body structures and systems, assisting the body’s natural ability to heal itself.
Using various assessment tools and perspectives, we work to identify and release restrictions, and restore mobility of tissues to decrease pain. This improves circulatory perfusion and promotes proper function and healing in people of all ages.
The Ontario Association of Osteopathic Manual Practitioners requires the highest standard of education and professional training in Ontario, which is 4200 Hrs of supervised clinical practice. Check your extended health benefits insurance policy to see your coverage for Osteopathy. Visit www.osteopathyontario.org for more information on Osteopathy in Ontario.
