Dear Community,
Earlier this week, on March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization declared the 2019 novel coronavirus a pandemic. As a health space in our community, we are being diligent and taking utmost protection measures to keep our community safe as indicated by the Ministry of Health and Ottawa Public Health.
How to Protect Yourself
Stay home if you are sick; read the instructions on Ottawa Public Health on what to do if you are unwell.
Wash your hands often with soap and water (for at least 20 seconds), or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
Cough and sneeze into your sleeve or a tissue (and dispose of tissue with care).
Avoid people who are sick.
If you are experiencing symptoms similar to the COVID-2019, please contact Telehealth Ontario at 1-866-797-0000 or contact Ottawa's local Public Health at 613-580-6744.
COVID-19 Measures Taking Place at Lighthouse Osteopathy
At this time, we ask our patients to not come in if they are experiencing fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath or cold-like symptoms. Late cancellations within a 3-hour window for illness reasons are welcome during this time.
Cleaning and disinfecting routines after each patient are already a daily practice at Lighthouse Osteopathy. In addition to these professional standards of practice, we will be taking the following action:
Conducting brief screenings with all patients at the door regarding recent fever, cough, and flu-like symptoms.
Adding a secondary disinfection routine to all frequently touched surfaces.
Adding extra practitioner hand-washing on shift.
Posting Ontario Ministry of Health posters around the studio.
Monitoring our own health closely for fever and other symptoms.
We will be posting updates regularly as new instructions and information come our way from the Ministry of Health and our governing body, OAO. Please email in with any questions you may have.
Be well and stay healthy,
Neil Melanson
